OBSERVATION: DEI? Just because you slap on a new set of tires and a get a really spiffy paint job doesn't change the fact the "Motortrend Car of the Year for 1961" was made in 1961 and represents all the inherent limitations, bias, flaws, etc.

1961 PONTIAC TEMPEST in 1961

Executive Order 10925, signed by President John F. Kennedy on March 6, 1961, required government contractors to "take affirmative action to ensure that applicants are employed and that employees are treated during employment without regard to their race, creed, color, or national origin."

Finally, after the passage of yet another federal law (the twentieth-20th) governing civil rights, in 1968, the Carnegie Mellon Action Project (CMAP) was founded with the aim of boosting recruitment and retention among African American students via diversity, equity, and inclusion. As researched and reported in the New York Times article, "Faces of Power: 80% Are White, Even as U.S. Becomes More Diverse," except for a few token minorities and women, not much has changed in higher education, which includes Carnegie Mellon.

Given the perpetual existence of the "Glass Ceiling" and the wage gap between Black people and White people, DEI represents a "face lift" of Affirmative Action, which is why DEI must function as more than just window dressing, façade, or yet another update of AA/EEO.
