Process to Obtain Employment as a Bilingual Teacher
in Denver Public Schools



Denver Public Schools is seeking bilingual teachers to teach classes in Spanish and English to children from kindergarten to twelfth grade. Teacher candidates need to be college graduates with the equivalent bachelor's degree (license) and to have fluency in Spanish and English. To be considered for a teaching position, the candidate needs:

1. If you are a graduate of a university from outside of the United States, please send official copies of your diplomas and transcripts to be verified by an agency approved by the Colorado Department of Education. Two agencies approved to validate your credentials are:

2. To obtain and submit a request for employment, call (303) 764-3970 or submit your application in person at:

3. If you have graduated fom a teachr probation program you need to submit an application for a Provisional License to the State of Colorado Department of Education. To obtain an application please call (303) 866-6628 or you may obtain an application at:

You must provide verification of your university degrees with this request.


4. Denver Public Schools requires that you to pass its Spanish Language Proficiency Examination. To schedule an appointment for this exam please call (303) 405-8151.

Currently, Denver Public Schools cannot hire teachers that need a work VISA in order to work in the United States.

After passing the Spanish proficiency examination, please call (303) 764-3641 to schedule an interview in English and Spanish.
